I was looking for cheap ink printers and found out L1800 and L1300 will do the job. They use dye-sub ink. L1300 is 4 color and L1800 is 6 color printer. It's weird that they don't sell these on US? They sell it here in my country. But this printers are soooo slow..do you know why is that? Anyways, How much difference will be between 4 and 6 colors? huge? Any other tips for another brands which use this new cheap ink system? Why the hell there is no enough information about this epson series on the internet ? Loose_Canon • Contributing Member • Posts 545 Re Epson L1800 and L1300? In reply to nuefox • Feb 18, 2015 I'm quite sure these are not dye sublimation, their just dye. There's a lot of debate on dye vs. pigment, you can look that up. I can't comment on these two, but I do have an Epson L800, which is similar to the L1800 but goes only up to A4. It's half the price though, and takes up less space. I love the prints that come out of it, though I can't comment on how well they last. For personal use - if it fades you can always print again. i was also wondering why this whole line of printers isn't available in the USA or most of Europe. My take is that they're so cheap to run that in the more affluent countries Epson prefers selling printers that use more expensive ink. Personally I'd go for the L800 or L1800, not the L1300 with the reduced number of inks. The ink is not so expensive anyway, and the prints coming from the 6 ink printers will probably be better. N.
